We are not experts, but there is a good chance that the present denomination of "Aztec Imperial Lager" is a crude appropriation based on dubious connections, mainly for marketing purposes.
So go figure.
Still, the combination of cocoa and vanilla with the roasted notes of the malt, enhanced by the barely perceptible heat of the Ancho peppers, awakens in me Mesoamerican fantasies of exotic birds and fire.
